Tamesha's Journey
My journey to becoming the owner of Baked Dreams Café & Dessert Shop started in the kitchens of my childhood. As early as ten, I found myself drawn to cooking and baking, thanks to the encouragement of my mother and grandmother, who let me explore flavors and techniques freely. I spent hours watching cooking shows and trying out recipes, learning that food could be beautiful, meaningful, and a way to bring people together.
As I grew older, I continued to cook for friends and family, always excited by their reactions to my creations. But when I became a mother, I set my dream of owning a bakery aside to focus on raising my family. Still, my passion lingered, and when my firstborn’s birthday came around, I had an eye-opening moment. After a disappointing experience with a store-bought cake, I decided to make his birthday cake myself. I created an elaborate, homemade cake that surprised even me, and from that moment, I knew my dream of Baked Dreams could be something real.
Life presented its share of challenges—my son’s health struggles and the loss of my beloved grandmother, who had inspired me so much. But these experiences only deepened my commitment. I worked hard to grow my home-based baking business and eventually moved into a commercial kitchen space in Milwaukee’s Sherman Phoenix. Today, Baked Dreams Café & Dessert Shop is a place where I can share my love of food with the community and bring people together with scratch-made desserts, savory dishes, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Every day, I feel grateful to live my dream and serve the Milwaukee community with food that’s crafted with love and care. My journey here is one of resilience and passion, and I pour that into every meal at Baked Dreams Café & Dessert Shop.
